The Taos Group’s Fifth Annual Retreat
The Taos Group met for its fifth annual retreat Oct. 3–7 at the fantastic and eco-friendly El Monte Sagrado Resort in Taos, N.M. Topics discussed included everything from marketing your law firm to hiring the best receptionist (what to call her: a receptionist or an “intake administrator”?). Group members from all over the country came together to discuss ways to grow their practice during changing economic times and to celebrate each other’s home runs as well as discuss the strikeouts.
Saturday night was a great time of surprises, and I am happy that GetLegal got to be a part of it. We had a lovely dinner at the JD Challenger art studio in Taos and were all amazed at the unveiling of the Bronze Statue “We the People” by JD Challenger. The statue, which will be shipped to Lake Worth, Fla., to become a part of the Romano Law Group’s new EcoCentre, depicts a Native American with a peace pipe kneeling on a stone tablet of the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution. It was an emotional unveiling for John and Nancy Romano, who commissioned the work over three years ago specifically for the EcoCentre, which at that time was only a dream on paper.
I was grateful to be able to give a Gicle`e of another one of Mr. Challenger’s works, “The Bill of Rights,” to each Taos Group member, and Mr. Challenger kindly agreed to sign the back of each copy. Another thanks to Mr. Challenger and the wonderful staff of the gallery for a memorable evening.
Look forward to seeing you all next week at Mass Torts Made Perfect at the Bellagio in Las Vegas!
